In June 2023, four local boys took over the hotel. Jack Welsh, Max Herbert, Craig Perry and Nick Hulme have been working hard to bring life back into the pub. If you come down for a beer or a meal, you're almost sure to see one of them around.
About Us
The oldest pub in Orbost, locally knows as 'The Bottom Pub', was established in 1884 and built by J.A Paterson of Bairnsdale's Mitchell Hotel.
It's the perfect spot to grab a beer and a meal, and get to know some of the locals!

EAT
Our chefs pride themselves on their use of local produce. Our gummy shark, scallops, flathead and whiting are from the nearby town of Lakes Entrance. Our batter is made using local Sailors Grave beer, brewed just down the road from the pub. Our delicious oysters are sourced from Pambula, as well as our Wild Rye Turkish bread for our garlic bread and burgers. On top of this, all of our fruit, veg and meat products are supplied locally.
The kitchen is always working hard to create rotating specials and seasonal menus.
DRINK
Our bar is always stocked with local beer and wine, along with all of the favourites in the fridge and on tap.
You can enjoy a drink in our main bar with the locals or in the snake pit over a game of pool. Our beer garden is the perfect spot for a sunny afternoon with some mates.
Friday nights is cocktail and slushie night in the pavilion, perfect for girls' night!
The Old Bottleshop is our newest location, a great spot for Saturday nights with our local DJ's, live music and events.
